HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A project to get food to people in need in southern West Virginia has hit a snag.
The Facing Hunger Foodbank in Huntington is a hub for getting food to people across the region.
CEO Cyndi Kirkhart says they make deliveries to Mingo County 6 to 8 times a month.
“We provide backpack programming to seven schools and senior commodity boxes,” she said.
In an effort to try to get food to people in that part of the region more efficiently and quickly, she says they began leasing a vacant warehouse in Williamson in 2022 with a plan to convert it into a food distribution center and pantry.
