‘We will have enough’: Local food pantries grapple with influx during SNAP stoppage

Typically, the Heart + Hand food pantry in South Charleston feeds 25-30 families every day. Monday, there were 20 people lined up outside before the doors even opened.

Jenny Keener, the volunteer and community outreach coordinator for Heart + Hand, said she expected to feed 60 families Monday. “We typically – on a Monday – would have like two or three people waiting for us,” she said. “Not 12.”
