Empty Bowls is Marshall University's version of a national initiative. Empty Bowls marries art with community and goodwill. Year-round, students, area potters and other art enthusiasts make and donate bowls for the cause. All proceeds from the fundraiser benefit Facing Hunger Foodbank. Empty Bowls would not be possible without the mentioned entities and others, including B'nai Shalom Congregation, First Presbyterian Church, and Christian Associates. Patrons choose from hundreds of bowls on sale for $15 each. Each bowl sale includes a modest lunch from donated soups, breads and drinks, served to emulate a soup kitchen and emphasize the movement to end hunger.
